Stair railings offer support to rail as well as aesthetic appeal to the general design ladder. Whether for wear, defect or accident, handrails for stairs can break and cause cracks that divide the rail in two pieces. If this fails, then a replacement rail can usually be purchased at any store home repair. Separate the pieces of broken rail, keeping in the lane, if possible, and fill the space with wood glue.
Place the two pieces together so that the break is almost invisible. If the pieces do not stay together for drying, then use a wooden clamp to hold the pieces in place. You usually need to dry wood glue for 24 hours before removing the clamp. Remove the bracket, if you ordered one and sand away any oozing glue seam. Re-paint the handrails for stairs and let it dry.
