Take advantage of the rafters in your room making it a point focal. Make your beams painting wood paneling using a technique of false termination. Wooden beams can add warmth to a room and accentuate the architectural features of the room. A wood grain tool lets you paint a wood grain in your beams to simulate the look of wood. Select a color, more clear to the base color of the beams and to apply a darker wood grain color, to create the natural look of your wood beams.
Sanding lightly painting wood paneling with a pad of fine grit sandpaper to remove the luster beams. This allows the paint to adhere to the surface. Clean the dust left by the sanding with a tack cloth. Apply an even coat of light colored paint interior beams using a brush. Allow the paint to dry for at least 24 hours.
Paint a layer of dark paint on each of the beams with a brush. Clean the surface of the beams from one end to another with cheesecloth to scratch the painting wood paneling. Shake a tool wood grain through the surface of each beam, end to end, to make the wood grain on the beams. Do this slowly and thoroughly.
